Our 2.3 Amp induction motor features ball bearings for smooth balanced performance even at high speed. Manually set your speed to either 740, 1100, 1530, 2100, or 3140 RPM by adjusting the belt position on the 2 spindles. The easy-to-read, locking depth stop allows for accurate and repeatable drilling operations. The keyed chuck with JT33 spindle taper accepts bits ranging from 1/20 in. to 1/2 in. Dia (1.5 to 13 mm). The table bevels 45° left and right for angled drilling. The base is designed with holes for mounting onto a bench or work stand. Clamps and vises are easily mounted to the slotted table, making work-holding safe and effective. Love this drill press. No bells and whistles, just a simple mechanical beast that easily gets the job done. I’m using it to drill aluminum enclosures for guitar stomp boxes. This is a really good drill press for someone who doesnt need to drill holes everyday. I have a garage shop that also is a garage gym, and we park the car so I needed something small and lightweight as I store it on a shelf. I do small projects for my Etsy shop, so I am not using it daily and only drilling into wood. For the price, it’s a great drill press but I do wish it had more torque. I always drill on the slowest speed. I often drill 1.25” and 2” holes with Forstner bits and it can take some time as the press wants to big down, even drilling very slowly. At times I wish I hd spent more money on a more powerful press but for the size and price, this was a good option for me. If you will routinely be drilling large holes, especially with hole saw bits, I would saw look for a drill with more power but I would recommend this for anyone needing something compact. I have been using this drill press for 3 weeks... 22 Jul 21
I have been using this drill press for 3 weeks and it is working perfectly. For the price I was not expecting more and to be honest I wanted the level up but we just cannot gt it , even on the Wen site.For an entry level this press is really working well, it take 5 min to setup. The only critics is the set up of the bed and the deepness of the drill is not precise enough, I would have appreciated the crank to raise or lower the bed. But for the price it is pushing. For ~$120, you cannot be so demanding. So far I do not have some of the problem that other have encountered: no rust appearing, despite the recent heavy rain and constant humidity, as well as the chuck falling. I am guessing the did not clean it as required on the manual. For DIYers like me, this machine does what is expected and does it well at an unbeatable price. Out of the box it was easy to assemble following the instructions. After cleaning the arbor with acetone the runout was .002" which is very good. The chuck despite cleaning had .007" runout which was too high. After removal, cleaning and using a little harder mallet strikes, 2-3 times, to seat the it better the runout dropped to .002" which is very good. The table needed to be squared relative to the chuck/arbor using dial indicator, the visual method is not accurate enough. Changing speed the tension in the belt should not be too high otherwise will create vibration. Spindle return spring is too high. Toward the end of 2" travel I use two hands for control. Lower speeds around 300 rpm & less would have made it also more suitable for drilling large holes in metal drilling. To remove the chuck brochure recommends using a "ball joint separator". I am not sure one can be found suitable for the size. I used a set of special wedges purchased separately. Overall for the price it is a bargain. Works great for the small jobs.
