Here is the gem and center piece of any Victorian Collection of antique Clothes Irons, This is a rare and complete Knox Fluter Iron, a machine to make fluted fabric for dress trim in the Victorian era, when pleated trim was popular. Susan R. Knox was the inventor of the Fluting Machine, and this machine has embossed on it the following; "THE ORIGINAL KNOX" , and then "PAT. JULY 3, 1877" and the words 'REISSUE AP". This is a heavy cast iron complex machine made in Philadelphia in the 1880's. Made to clamp to a table, it includes the table locking mechanism. Its 9 inches by 6 1/2 inches and stands about 9 inches tall. It looks like you could use it today, so do not loose this beauty.
