Brand New Viair 444C / 400C Stealth Black Compressor head replacement/rebuild kit only.  This is a direct replacement head for 444C , 400C  (44442 & 40048 P/N) Air Compressors. Sold Each.

Note: This head does not come with any reed valve/ Saddle Plate, square piece with U- Shape valve inside the head. Use your old reed valve assembly only if the U-shape valve is not damaged on the upper reed valve plate. Old upper reed valve assembly should go same way inside the head as the old one. Please mark it before you take the old reed valve assembly out of old head. Otherwise piston will shatter into pieces due to no outlet for compressed air.

Items Included:

• 1 (One) Viair 444C OR 400C Stealth Black Replacement head with 4(Four) Bolts & Gasket.
• Does not come with the upper reed valve square saddle plate assembly OR Braided Leader Hose

Basic Instructions For Assembly:

• Remove braided leader hose from tank as well as on the compressor side.
• Unscrew the 4 bolts on head with Allen Wrench, do not use heavy duty impact wrench or high torque drill with bit. If screws are not coming out then just heat each screw with blow torch not more than 3-4 sec. at a time.
• Mark the upper reed valve position and direction on reed valve assembly before taking it apart.
• After removing head, clean upper reed valve assembly with mild soap to unblock the ports, make sure U-Shape valve is intact on this plate. Do not use old reed valve assembly if U-shape valve is broken. *** You will need a new saddle plate/ upper reed valve assembly***
• Screw the 4 bolts back onto compressor after inserting the upper reed valve plate, Use gasket. Do not over tighten the 4 bolts as they may shear.
• Use thread sealant on leader hose, hand tighten it. Use 12-13 LB of torque wrench to tighten the leader hose. *** do not use Teflon Tape, over tightening of leader hose may crack the head.  
• Always seek a professional help when repairing an old compressor with new parts
