Parts Included : 1. 400C Piston & Connecting Rod with counter weights & set screw. - New Style Only 2. 400C Cylinder wall with 2 O'Rings/ Gaskets 3. 400C Head with extended fins with gasket & 4 new bolts ***Gasket is inside the head*** 4. 400C Carbon brush kit with thermal overload protection circuit 5. 400C 1/4" NPT Stainless Steel Braided hose with inbuilt check valve. 6. 400C Filter Assembly/ Housing with one filter inside. 7. Replacement filter elements - 5 Pack. 8. Vibration Isolators for mounting feet brackets. ***This kit does not come with upper reed valve/ saddle plate inside the head. Use the old saddle plate/ reed valve assembly after cleaning it with soap & water.*** Important Notes & General Instructions : 1. Check air compressor manufacturing date code. Remove air filter assembly housing. There is a 5 digit parts number stamped at the front of crank case. There are 4 digits right below the 5 digit part number. First 2 are year & next 2 are month of manufacturing. We do not recommend rebuilding an air compressor more than 3 year old ***This may vary depending upon the actual usage or application*** 2. Installing the old saddle plate / upper reed valve plate inside new head.Mark the direction & orientation of this saddle plate/ reed valve assembly in the old head. This must be installed in same direction & orientation inside the new head. Wrong installation will shatter piston into pieces due to pressure building inside the crank case. 3. If it is hard to remove old piston from motor shaft using an allen wrench than heat piston set screw with butane torch for not more than 2 - 3 sec. continuously to break lose the thread sealant used on the  old set screw on compressor motor shaft. Do not install piston straight in to cylinder wall. Hold Cylinder wall at an angle to grab piston ring/ seal by gently rotating clockwise or anti - clockwise. Make sure piston ring does not fold backwards or gets nicked with cylinder wall. ***Make sure Cylinder wall lower O'Ring/ Gasket is installed before the piston is installed through cylinder wall*** 4.Use thread sealant on the set screw to install new piston on motor shaft. 5. Filter assembly housing should be hand tightened only, do not use Teflon tape or thread sealant. 6. Use thread sealant only (No Teflon Tape) to install the stainless steel braided hose with new head. Hand tighten, use 12-14 lbs. Torque or just give one full turn plus 1/4 turn. Over tightening will crack the head. 7. Do not over tighten the head bolts , check valve into the air tank. Use 12-14 lbs torque with Torque wrench OR give one full turn plus 1/4 turn. 8. Use flat head screw driver to pry -open the spring loaded carbon brushes. Do not use straight force/ install carbon brush without pry - opening them with flat head screw driver. Failure to do so will break the actual carbon brushes. 9. Replace filter elements every 3-4 months or earlier depending upon how & where an air compressor is installed. 10. Do not install air compressor underneath a floor matt or inside the tool box. These air compressors must be installed in well ventilated space, where air is moving around to dissipate heat. 11. These are dry air compressors, do not use any type of oil or lubricant to install piston inside the cylinder wall. We are an authorized dealer/ distributor for Viair for more than 14 plus years.
