1 hp  Servo Motor Upgrade for Mini Milling Machines. This kit has several improvements over the first 10 I built. This includes: The new speed control switch (better pot, smaller knob, improved label). The new style spindle lock  (outer engagement). It currently can take up to 10 days to fit this build into the line up. Currently these are hand made: That means that if you lose a part, it will have to be hand made to fit your specific system as follows: Drive belt is a standard size and in stock Motor is standard and available Motor controller is custom but we make plenty so they are standard and available Motor speed control is custom but we make plenty so they are standard and available Motor drive pulley is custom but we make plenty so they are standard and currently available Motor mounting brackets can be made but spindle lock is unique Spindle drive pulley is available but spindle lock is unique Spindle lock is unique and must be custom made to fit your system Belt cover shield is unique. You will have to hand fit a replacement What I am saying is that if you lose the spindle lock, you will have to make your own to fit. Maybe I can make a replacement but only with reasonably accurate measurements. Same goes with the spindle drive pulley, motor mounting brackets and the belt safety shield. About the system: Eliminates noisy and failure prone internal plastic H/L speed gear. Control unit is placed above and and clear of the metal filings that all too often blow the main board. As seen in images. Runs extremely smooth and quiet. Adds the reverse direction function that is not included on original factory machines. Increases achievable spindle high speed RPM from (factory claims 2.500 RPM) to 3,280 RPM. This is the actual result we measured on this system. Each new system is subject to individual results depending on the main board, power supply, programming and the milling machine it is installed on, etc. Decreases achievable spindle speed from (factory claims 100 RPM.my results indicate almost no torque) to 240 RPM with 10 NM torque or as low as 80 RPM with still outstanding torque. Increases hp from ( factory claims 1/3 to 3/4 hp depending on model) to 1 HP and 10 NM meter torque. Fits the following mini milling machines: Make sure and check the spindle. Does not fit: Grizzly G0781 because it has a 28mm spindle. My have a kit in the future but not today. Speeds achieved  With our 1 HP servo motor: Motor range 100 ~ 4,100+ RPM. (in 100 rpm increments ) Recommend set servo motor to run no slower than 300 RPM = 240 RPM Spindle. Motor to spindle ratio is 1.25 to 1 Spindle speed range is 240 ~ 3,280 RPM.

Full power is available at all speeds.

This means your machine will not load up under load at low speeds.

Sold complete with all the adapters required to install  in the original motor location of the above 2 speed mini milling machines. No instructions yet, just my text number in case  you need assistance. Make Note:  This unit has the new spindle locking system for loosening the R8 draw bar.

This is build 10+. It is fully alpha tested. You are beta testing it at your own risk.

My test results using 2" aluminum 6061 and a 2" fly cutter:

Running the fly cutter at 3,000 rpm produced a much smoother finish.

This mod allows the operator to reach rpm's nearly double that of the manufacturers original design.

You are responsible for the safe operation of this equipment, If you spin a cutter so fast that a piece breaks off and 

travels the speed of a bullet, that is your responsibility the same as shooting a gun at the range.

The horsepower improvement is incredible. Kinda like replacing the small block with a big block in your Mustang/Camaro muscle car. Just pure power, so much so that you will never use all of it. This system provides full power at any speed and that includes Spindle RPM's as low as 80 RPM's. Motor and spindle speeds + Reverse: The motor speed can be programmed and or full range can be achieved with just the speed control rotary knob on the controller : Speed control programming only requires a few easy steps. Reverse is simple, just hold the yellow button for a few seconds. Magnetic light brightness is adjustable at control unit. Programming includes the ability to set bottom and top RPM range separately. In other words you can program the system to run the spindle at any speed or range of speeds you choose (see below). Slowest speed recommended : Motor 100 RPM (Spindle 80 RPM)o Highest speed this one produced: Motor 4200 RPM. Note: Manufacturer recommended 500 to 4,000 RPMs My personal testing results: This motor runs best between 300 and 4,200 RPMs. This listing is for a fully alpha tested system. Its a little tricky to install on the mill and you will need long metric allen wrenches. Look at the images. Motor must be slid in while aligning the belt. A new control computer with external speed control like the one seen in photos. This control unit is built by The Custom Crafter to include a built in thermal overload system with reset reset function. (see photos), make note: Color of the reset button may be green or orange. Notes: You will be required to remove the power head and dissemble. This is not easy but it is required to remove the intermediate shaft and high/low gear. Plugs are provided to fill the bearing holes and keep internal components free of metal filings . The kit it's self is easy to install . A text number is provided for tech support. This system has so much more power that it becomes tempting to see just how much you can cut in a single pass. Do not do this because the rest of the mini mill is not built strong/stable enough for this kind of abuse. If you jam it, you may damage the milling machine to include broken cutters, parts and the control unit.This is abuse and no refunds will be issued for damage caused by abuse. Main components have a unique warranty tamper proof seal and internal water soluble identification mark. No refund will be issued if it is missing or removed.

All original parts and packaging must be returned to get a refund.
