I just pick this up from the BORG. I love everything but the belt surges and makes sanding edges difficult. It only surges and makes a grinding noise when the belt is being used. I can't find a number or a place to call to see if this is normal operation for the tool. Consultied the manual and did not find any help with my concern. Good value for woodworking 22 Nov 21

I have owned and used this machine for over 12 years. I bought it based on a magazine review of 5 machines and this was by far the best rated. I mostly use it for lathe related work in the belt mode. I have used it a few times in the drum mode and it did a very good job. Two very minor problems I have had was the left hand thread on the belt roller top that I solved by magic marking an arrow and the word “ loosen” ;and the safety switch getting pulled off so I masking taped it to the switch. I have a safety switch in the house I pull to kill all the shop tools. This is not an industrial machine and should not be used in a production shop but for less than $ 300. I wasn’t expecting it to be. For a fairly active middle level hobby wood shop it is excellent machine and I highly recommend it. This is the best tool purchase I have made in... 22 Jul 21

I'd read the reviews before going to the store and saw many people returned theirs because the 1/2" rubber spindle drum wasn't included in the box. I had the same experience, returned it and the next box was exactly the same. It turns out, if you read the instructions carefully, that for the 1/2" sanding drum you just slide it on over the metal spindle itself, put on the washer and nut, and tighten it.You can stop returning the sander if you can't find the 1/2" sanding drum!I haven't tried it out yet beyond making this discovery, but after wasting an hour returning it I thought I should share the knowledge. And Ridgid: revise the words on the box and your advertising to make this clear! Excellent! Works great... 8 Jun 21
