Proto 2000 HO Scale 10,000 gallon Type 21 Insulated Tank Car - MPCX 1563

This item is a Life-Like Proto 2000 HO Scale model kit of a 10,000 gallon Type 21 Insulated Tank Car. The kit is painted white with black lettering to represent Magnolia Petroleum Company car 1563. The reporting marks are MPCX 1563. This car is numbered in the series 1500-1649, which numbered 150 cars. This represents the largest series of cars in the Magnolia fleet, which numbered 709 cars in October 1955. Home points for Magnolia in the mid 1950s included Houston, Chalson and Ft. Worth, Texas and Augusta and Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri.
The kit includes added weights to properly weight the car. The kit also features trucks with metal wheels and Kadee style knuckle couplers. All the major private tank car lines provided Type 21 - 10,000 gallon insulated tanks cars to their customers that had temperature sensitive cargoes to haul. Tanks cars of this type were common during the steam and early diesel era.
