Planer and jointer knife setting jig. Professional dial indicator type. Set your knives within a thousandth of an inch of each other. This is like our popular jig but will accommodate smaller cutterheads such as the Powermatic, Delta, Jet, & Grizzly 12"made planers, Delta, Powermatic, Jet, Grizzly and Oliver 6 & 8" jointers and others with a cutterhead 2" or larger. Measure your cutterhead and then compare to the photo of the jig poised on a cutterhead for reference.

After you get frustrated with the lack of repeatability of the magnetic gimmicks and other corner cutting methods you will appreciate the accuracy, ease, and consistency in using a professional quality gauge and realize it is well worth the money. If you want the best performance from your planer or jointer you need the repeatable accuracy this quality made gauge enables you to achieve. Satisfaction guaranteed. Jig profile may differ from photo.

Aluminum jig made here in Pennsylvania USA.

Dial indicator is an import with an accuracy of .001 and face color may be different than pthe picture depending on what my supplier sends me.

To use: 1-First disconnect power from the machine.

2-Loosen the thumb screw on the indicator to allow bezel to rotate.

3-Set the jig on the cutterhead away from knives and knife slot and rotate face to zero.

4-Tighten thumb screw to lock the bezel.

5-Reposition the jig over the knife and check it's projection.

6- Adjust knife progection to manufactures recommendation, (often 1/8" or .125").

7-Snug gib screws

-8-Rotate to the next knife and adjust it until target projection is achieved and snug up those gib screws.

9-Rotate the cutterhead and repeat this with all knives.

10-Go back and tighten all gib screws gradually, tightening each and then rotate to the next until final torque is achieved to manufactures specifications on all knives .

11-Double check all torques before energizing the machine.

This process of gradually tighten each knife gib screw and proceeding to the next prevents cutterhead distortion.

Dozens sold to satisfied customers who report that their time spent setting knives is greatly lessened and their accuracy vastly is improved by using it.

Even knife projection results in a cleaner cut, less tear out, longer time between sharpening, and quieter operation. Plus the frustration element is eliminated.
