MotorThe 1.5hp motor is TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) which is the only choice for harsh grinding environments. The face is 56C to mate up to our chassis. Motor shaft is 5/8" diameter. Motor is wired for 110V . A 7" diameter aluminum drive wheel is included. Also comes with a safety paddle switch. Some of our motors are black in color which also look cool with our chassis.
BEWARE: There's at least one irresponsible seller on Ebay who sells a so-called knife grinder with an OPEN motor which is NOT TEFC (totally enclosed fan cooled) & OPEN VFD, obviously a very bad idea in a grinding environment. The dust & debris will be ingested by the motor, destroying it in no time. Also think of the dangers involved when quenching blades & water gets into an open motor... sparks will certainly fly, but not the type that a knife maker wants to see! Don't be tricked!
